BMR 2022 ROUND UP

2022 Round Up: , 1 Championship, 2 Plates…

What a year 2022 has been for the team at BMR!

Firstly, it’s been a great fight throughout all the Championship this year. It just shows why the Brits are the best in the world!

Now, starting with the LGM series… With a win in the opening race at Larkhall, Harry looked strong all year and cemented his 2022 Championship back in August. Harry retained his LGM Championship status and is now a two-time LGM Champion! Michael went to PFi and was awesome. Qualifying P3 and having some mixed luck in the heats ended P8 in the final, an awesome achievement.

The Motorsport UK champion started back in April at Shenington where BMR driver Harry took the spoils. With regular heat and final wins Platten was always a contender. Alas, 2022 wasn’t quite to be and Harry had to settle for a still respectable 3rd place, an improvement on the 2021 season!

Next we head off to PFi and the annual Kartmasters championship. 2021 went well and Platten was looking to defend his GP plate. With some disasters in qualifying, Harry had plenty to do in the heats. Securing a P16 in the Prefinal and finishing P6 meant ‘Hair Force One’ was still in with a shout! The final saw the usual frantic racing that is synonymous with Kartmasters and it really was anyone’s race to win (or lose). With a couple of laps to go Platten took the lead and help on to it. making him Kartmasters champion 2022 and back-to-back champion.

Finally a trip back to PFi for the coveted ‘O’ Plate. Unlike Kartmasters a few months prior. A decent quali saw Harry starting P2 in the heats. A P2, P6 and a win saw Platten on Pole for prefinal 1. Then disaster and Harry is wiped out, finishing P16. With work to do Harry buckled up and ‘sent it’ Prefinal 2 P16 to P3, that’s was more like it! Starting P6 for the final and it was literally bumper to bumper for the top 10. By the 5th lap Platten has made it to 2nd and seven laps later took the lead. Harry lead the final six laps and completed and outstanding 2022 by taking the ‘O’ Plate crown.

A Special mention for Michael Rapsey… With Michael concentrating on his exams for 2022 and a move up in class later on in the year, we will be expecting big things from him in ’23. With little racing in 2022 he still managed top 15 in many of the races he completed (including the ‘O’ Plate) and looked comfortable in his promotion to Senior X30
